Women's Month Activities 2025
"Let's Talk Menopause" Forum
On March 27th, 2025, in honor of Women’s month 2025, my office in collaboration with the Office of the Governor General, the Ministry of Health and Wellness, the Ministry of Human Development, Family Support, & Gender Affairs, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, proudly hosted the enlightening forum “Let’s Talk Menopause”.
This event provided an informative and safe space for open discussions about Menopause, a natural but often misunderstood phase in a woman’s life. With the direction and guidance of an esteemed panel of specialists, the attendees gained valuable knowledge into the biological, psychological and social aspects of menopause, ensuring they have the knowledge and strategies to explore this transition with ease.
Our distinguished panelists included:
Governor General of Belize, H.E. Dame Froyla Tzalam
Obstetrician/Gynecologist at St. Luke’s Hospital, Dr. Veronica Rosado
Director of Public Health and Wellness at MOHW, Mrs. Jihane Habet Santlal
Psychologist, Dr. Susanna Hoy-Mitchell
This forum emphasized the need to foster open discussions about menopause, breaking stigmas, and ensuring women have access to the resources they need.
An extended heartfelt appreciation to our partners, panelists, and attendees who contributed to the success of this “Let’s Talk Menopause” forum. This conversation is not over, so let’s continue to support one another in embracing this stage of life with confidence and knowledge.

Outstanding Women’s Award 2025
On March 2oth, 2025, we celebrate the incredible women who continue to shape Belize’s future! Under this year’s theme, “Accelerating Action: Rights, Equality, Empowerment for All Women and Girls,” we are reminded that while progress has been made, our collective efforts must continue.
From classrooms to clinics, boardrooms to grassroots activism, Belizean women are the backbone of our communities –-leaders, entrepreneurs, environmentalists, and advocates who inspire change every day. It was my distinct honor to present awards to two outstanding Belizean women whose contributions have made a lasting impact on our society.
Dr. Elma Kay, awarded in the category of Women and the Environment, has been a steadfast advocate for environmental conservation, championing sustainability, and the protection of Belize’s rich natural resources.
Mrs. Cynthia Williams, recognized for her work in the Human Rights of Women, has dedicated her career to advancing gender equality and advocating for the rights and empowerment of women across our nation. Their dedication, resilience, and passion uplift us all.
Let’s keep pushing forward for a future where every woman and girl thrives!
Accelerating Action Behind Bars: Visit to Kolbe Foundation
"Accelerating Action: Rights, Equality, and Empowerment for All Women and Girls".
This Women’s Month, we recognize the strength and resilience of women from all walks of life. Today, H.E. Mrs. Rossana Briceño visited the Kolbe Foundation, Belize Central Prison, where she spent a meaningful morning with the women inmates. Through heartfelt testimonies, uplifting music, and prayers, the gathering was a reminder that hope and second chances are always within reach.
As a token of care and support, Mrs. Briceño provided each woman with a care package containing essential hygiene items, including sanitary pads, to promote dignity and well-being.
A heartfelt thank you to Mission Hope Belize, in partnership with the Anglican Diocese of Belize, and to the BCP Administration and Staff for making this initiative possible. Together, we uplift and empower women, reminding them that they are seen, valued, and never alone.
