On October 24th, 2024, H.E. Rossana Briceno attended and gave remarks at the wheelchair distribution ceremony, which was made possible by the collaborative efforts of the Ixchel Caribe Foundation and the Rotary Club of Sanibel-Captiva, FL, Rotary Club of Naples Fl, Belize, and Belmopan.

During the ceremony, over 250 wheelchairs were distributed to various groups in Belize, including the OSE.

These wheelchairs will go on to assist many children, adults, and the elderly to give them far more than a means of mobility but the gift of freedom, independence, and restored dignity to individuals who need it most.

In her remarks, the SE noted that “For those who will receive these wheelchairs, this contribution goes beyond simply moving from place to place. It’s the ability to regain autonomy, to go to school or work, to be part of social activities, and to reconnect with the community.

It means the difference between isolation and inclusion. This day reminds us that when we come together with the intent to help, we can change lives in profound ways.”
