16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence 2023

The OSE held several activities in honor of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence which started on November 25th, 2023 and Ended on December 10th, 2023.

These activities included:

1. High School Poetry Competition which encouraged high school students to create an original piece around the theme: “From 16 Days of Activism to 365 Days of Action: End Violence Against Women and Girls Now!”.

2. Primary School Poster Competition which required the students to make an original piece of artwork on a poster depicting the theme: “From 16 Days of Activism to 365 Days of Action: End Violence Against Women and Girls Now!”.

3. Videos featuring participants from the “Engaging Men and Boys” Program to recite their pledge to end gender-based violence.

4. Videos from several mental health professionals to provide mental health advice and support to victims of domestic violence.

5. Videos featuring the Prime Minister, Ministers, Mayors, and Journalists from Belize conveying a supportive message in line with this year’s theme “From Activism to Action. It Ends With Me.”.

6. Women's self-defense class in collaboration with the United Women’s Group (UWG).

7. Performance piece entitled ‘6 Feet Down the Aisle’ in collaboration with Briheda Haylock and Modern Dance Company. The emotionally charged performance dedicated to the memory of Anisha Young, shed light on her tragic disappearance while advocating for justice and raising awareness about gender-based violence.
